El Gordo de Navidad is a raffle draw takes place once a year in Madrid on the 22nd of December. The enormous amount of cash prizes up for grabs makes it Spain's most popular lottery game.
The biggest El Gordo prizes are awarded for matching the entire winning code drawn for each prize tier. For example, if the code 12345 was drawn for the Second Prize (Segundo Premio) and you had a décimo with that same code, you would win €125,000!
Smaller El Gordo prizes are handed out for matching part of the winning codes, with players who match the last number of the code receiving a prize equal to the money spent on the ticket.
Anyone can play El Gordo from outside Spain simply by using the online ticket concierge service. This service allows you to purchase El Gordo tickets regardless of your location.
All El Gordo players must be at least 18 years old.
